Kabul Chawla’s BPTP Earns LEED Platinum for Capital City, Noida

BPTP has secured the LEED Platinum certification for Capital City, its commercial property in Sector 94, Noida, marking a significant milestone in sustainability performance for the company’s commercial portfolio. This certification, one of the highest recognitions in green building standards globally, reflects the development’s operational excellence across multiple environmental and efficiency metrics.

Administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system provides a comprehensive framework for creating healthy, efficient, and cost-effective green buildings. LEED certification is widely regarded as a rigorous benchmark for sustainability, used in more than 185 countries and recognised internationally as an indicator of environmental responsibility and resource-efficient operations. To reach Platinum, a building must score 80 or more points out of a possible 110, the highest tier in the entire system. For context, only around 12% of all LEED-certified projects globally reach Platinum level. It is not a standard that most buildings attempt, and fewer still achieve.

For Capital City, the LEED Platinum rating underscores BPTP’s commitment to comprehensive sustainability across the building’s lifecycle, from design and construction through ongoing operation and maintenance. In an era where environmental performance and operational resilience are increasingly core concerns for investors and occupants, achieving this level of certification signals a strong alignment with global best practices in environmental stewardship and real estate value creation.

The certification process for Capital City involved extensive documentation of real-world data, demonstrating reduced energy and water consumption, improved indoor air quality, efficient waste handling practices, and the use of sustainable materials. These factors are evaluated through an objective set of criteria that measures how the building performs in practice rather than how it was originally designed. This data-driven approach ensures that sustainability outcomes are verifiable, lasting, and aligned with recognised international standards.

In practical terms, LEED-certified buildings like Capital City deliver multiple environmental and economic advantages. Enhanced energy efficiency and smart resource management lead to lower operating costs, while improved indoor environmental quality contributes to occupant well-being and productivity. Additionally, buildings with robust green credentials tend to see higher market valuations and attract tenants who prioritise sustainability, reflecting a broader market shift toward environmentally responsible assets.

Achieving LEED Platinum further positions Capital City among a select group of commercial real estate assets in India recognised for their leadership in sustainability. India has witnessed a significant increase in LEED certifications in recent years, with the country ranking among the top globally for green building adoption, a trend that highlights the growing importance of sustainability in urban development and corporate real estate strategy.

For BPTP, this certification aligns with a broader organisational emphasis on integrating sustainability into project planning, operations, and long-term asset performance. The success at Capital City adds to the company’s sustainability credentials, reinforcing its capability to deliver commercial spaces that meet stringent environmental benchmarks while addressing evolving user expectations.
